Dr. Tracy Pedersen, DVM

Dr. Tracy Pedersen, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Tracy Pedersen started her career in veterinary medicine in Ogema after graduation from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. She worked in mixed animal practice there until making a move to Sherwood Animal Clinic in 2003. Through the years, Dr. Pedersen has cultivated her passion for all aspects of equine practice while also enjoying the challenges of small animal medicine. She lives on a farm near Milestone. In 2003, Dr. Pedersen and her husband began Western Horse Sales Unltd and ran a large annual consignment horse sale for 14 years. She now spends her spare time either in a barrel racing arena or a hockey arena with her family.

Dr. Lara Reitsma, DVM

Veterinarian

We are thrilled for Dr. Lara Reitsma to join our team June 17, 2024!

Lara grew up in Victoria, BC where she was always surrounded by animals. She completed her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Victoria while volunteering at a wildlife rehabilitation center. After completing her undergraduate degree, she moved to Saskatoon to attend the Western College of Veterinary Medicine graduating in 2024. She loves small animal medicine and has a particular fondness for cats and rabbits.

She lives with her husband and their wonderful pets and enjoys reading, baking, and playing games.

Dr. Arkim Mirza

Dr. Arkim Mirza

Supervised Limited License Veterinarian

Dr. Arkim Mirza is a dedicated mixed animal practitioner specializing in treating dogs, cats, and horses. Dr. Arkim graduated from Veterinary studies in Pakistan in 2016, and joined Sherwood Animal Clinic April 2024.

Before relocating to Canada, Dr. Mirza gained extensive experience working in Dubai with high-level thoroughbreds, endurance horses, and racing camels. His background includes roles at both Dubai Camel Hospital and Dubai Equine Hospital, where he focused on complex surgeries, emergency care, and intensive care for camels and horses. He also completed three specialized internships at the prestigious Dubai Equine Hospital, honing his skills in surgeries, internal medicine, and equine sports medicine.

Dr. Mirza has a keen interest in poor performance evaluations and the application of regenerative medicine for lameness-related conditions. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the natural beauty of Saskatchewan.

Emily Maine

Emily Maine

Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT)

Emily grew up in small-town Watrous, Saskatchewan. After high school, she completed the Animal Health Technology program at Lakeland College. This brought her to Sherwood Animal Clinic for her practicum, which grew into a full-time position as a Registered Veterinary Technologist. Emily especially enjoys working alongside the veterinarians on equine lameness cases and outcalls. In her free time, she likes to ride her horse, hang out with her cat and spend quality time with her family and friends. She loves being a part of the Sherwood Animal Clinic team and is excited to continue to help their clients’ beloved pets.

Alyssa Willis

Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT)

Alyssa grew up in Regina. Her love of animals lead her to complete the Animal Health Technology program at Lakeland College in 2023. For the past two summers she enjoyed working at Sherwood Animal Clinic as a tech assistant and summer student. Alyssa is excited to return to the clinic to jumpstart her technician career, bringing a passion for veterinary medicine and especially enjoying equine nursing and care. Outside of the clinic she can be found riding her horse, hanging with her dog Murphy and spending time with family and friends.

Kaitlyn Yelich

Kaitlyn Yelich

Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT)

Kaitlyn grew up on a grain and cattle farm near Kenaston, SK, where she spent her childhood immersed in farm life, riding and training horses with her father. This early exposure to animal care sparked her interest in veterinary medicine. Pursuing her passion, Kaitlyn completed the Veterinary Technology program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Saskatoon.

Her initial connection with Sherwood Animal Clinic began with a practicum during her studies, which she thoroughly enjoyed. After graduating, she returned to the clinic as a full-time veterinary technician. Outside of work, Kaitlyn is active in rodeo, with a keen interest in barrel racing, and enjoys spending her summers at the lake with her family.

Kaitlyn now lives in Balgonie with her fiancé and their cat, Diva. Her practical experience and dedication make her a valued member of our team at Sherwood Animal Clinic.

Karley Romanuk

Karley Romanuk

Veterinary Technologist Assistant

Karley was born and raised in Regina Saskatchewan. She attended school at the U of R and received a degree in Kinesiology-Human Kinetics. Shortly after she became a 200 hour certified Yoga Instructor. However, her love of animals has always been her biggest passion, and it has inspired her to pursue a career in the animal health field. One day she hopes to combine her education and work with animals in a rehabilitation/therapeutic setting. Outside of the clinic you’ll almost always find her with her dog, Waylon. They love all things outdoors including paddle boarding, biking, hiking, camping and spending time with family and friends.

I grew up on a farm in Edenwold Saskatchewan. I have always had a love for large animals and got into the vet industry to pursue and learn more about it all.

I have been in the veterinary field for going on two years now mainly working as an assistant. In my spare time, I enjoy seeing my family and friends or going to the farm.

I am a small-town girl hailing from Craik, Saskatchewan, a small agricultural town where I developed a profound love for animals from an early age. After completing high school, I explored a variety of career paths, where I gained valuable experience,

however, my true passion has always been animals, leading me to accept a new role as a veterinary medical receptionist. Outside of work, I enjoy spending my time fishing, hiking with my dogs, and paddle boarding -embracing the beauty of nature.
